Funding Trees Planting to Enhance Greenery and Provide Nature-based Solutions to Natural Disasters

 Abstract: This study proposes a sustainable funding mechanism for afforestation and reforestation initiatives in Lagos, Nigeria, through the Land Use Charge System under the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) framework. The initiative seeks to enhance urban greenery, mitigate natural disasters, and improve air quality and biodiversity. The paper outlines the goals, implementation plan, business model, and expected outcomes of the project, highlighting its alignment with national climate change policies.
