Abstract: The present article is aimed at presenting the main aspects related to the use of mattress-type gabions and systems composed of PEAD geocells and multi-directional tensors, as alternatives for drainage channel linings applied in works of decharacterization of debris/sediments dams. We sought to address the main advantages attributed to the use of these solutions in relation to conventional coatings, based on a bibliographical review and the practical experience acquired by Fonntes Geotecnica in the development of projects of this nature. The use of these coatings has proved to be a technically feasible solution, mainly due to the easy adaptation to the local implantation conditions, the resistance attributed to the flow action, the acceptability to the base soil deformations, besides the practicality of execution and reduction of work final costs when compared to other coatings normally used.
