Abstract: The dynamics of local climate can be influenced by several factors, especially the geoecological characteristics of the studied region. In this perspective, the main goal of this study was to analyze the dynamics at work in the temperature of the urban area of Guarapuava-PR from December 2015 to November 2016, focusing on local and regional aspects that interact with climatic variability. The adopted methodology was to observe the variability of the air temperature in comparison to the altitude and the type of soil cover. After the cartographic analysis of the city’s urban network, temperature-monitoring equipment was installed in the northwest-southeast and northeast-southwest transects. The data obtained was tabulated and analyzed in spreadsheets for calculation through Microsoft Excel 2016. The analysis verified that the altitude in Guarapuava’s urban area was the main influence in the temperatures, but the soil cover was also relevant to the result, even if it was secondary.
