Abstract: This article deals with case studies to propose operational measures to improve traffic circulation with application of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technologies, aiming to increase traffic mobility and safety in urban corridors of BR-493/RJ, namely the Metropolitan Arch of Rio de Janeiro, and BR-040, BR-381, and BR-262, components of the Belo Horizonte Road Ring, in order to be able to face, in these corridors, the problems represented by their high accident rates and traffic congestions, increases in travel time and, as a consequence, in the operational costs of both cargo and passenger transport, as well as higher exhaust coefficients mainly of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
