Abstract: With an area of about 1,600 km2, Tam Giang-Bach Ma area, Thua Thien-Hue province, Vietnam is a place with great potential for geological heritage. The results of the study initially established 9 types of geological heritage including: Paleontology; Geomorphology and landscape; Paleo-environment; Rock; Stratigraphy; Minerals; Geological economy; Tectonic-structure, history of geological evolution and Quaternary Geology, marine geology. The most valuable geological heritages include: Late Devonian - Early carboniferous fossils of Brachiopod, Coral,Gasteropod is well preserved in Dong Lam and Van Xa; Planation surfaces, waterfalls and natural lakes in Bach Ma mountain; The lagoons, sand dikes, river sections with sand dunes and beautiful beaches; Relis of the volcanic island arc “Long Dai” in Ordovician-Silurian; Magmatic complexes related to the process of creating Indosini mountains and the collision process between Indochina massif and Viet-Trung complex terrane, Differentiation of vertical movement in Neogene-Quaternary creates mountains and hills terrain in the western-southeast part, the eastern-northeast part is the plain; History of Quaternary sediments has 5 sedimentary rhythms corresponding to 5 stratigraphic units in the plain and 4 terraces at the edge of the delta, 3 generations of seasand with the age of late Pleistocene to mid-late Holocene exists in the study area. The study of geological heritage and other heritage values is the scientific basis for establishing a geopark in Tam Giang - Bach Ma area.
