Abstract: We try to see in this article if the standard model for sediment transport is adequate to deal with certain transport problems that occur on a larger scale than the usual marine engineering projects; or, on the contrary, it has some limitations to deal with larger physiographic units such as the Valencian oval. We defend here that at larger scales, both temporal and spatial, onshore-offshore transport becomes very relevant to explain certain observed processes.
