Traditional Lime Kiln’s and Their Production
Abstract: In Portugal still remain many places where in the past traditional kilns functioned. Their locations are associated with areas where there is marble or limestone, a raw material necessary for the production of lime. The strong competition from industrial products has led to the disappearance of lime produced in traditional kilns. The existing structures are a heritage that needs to be preserved. This paper essentially refers to the production of lime in traditional kilns and the influence of the burning temperature on the quality of the lime.
