Abstract: International agreements have been signed by several countries of the United Nations (UN) in order to establish new premises and commitments to assist the sustainable development of the coastal zone, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Millennium Goals and Agenda 21. In Brazil, some of these resolutions have become federal, state or local public policies, but many of them have not yet been implemented ensuring the necessary interaction between government, economic sectors and population. This research aimed to analyze these public policies from the perspective of Brazilian coastal management, the influence of the impacts arising from the degradation of coastal ecosystems on this management and the challenges posed by the Coronavirus Pandemic situation. A qualitative research was carried out, based on the approaches of documentary, bibliographic and content analysis, with processed data from official documents and local examples obtained from field work.

Key words: coastal zone management, COVID-19, environmental impacts
