Abstract: The objective of this work is to show the immense utility of the dimensionless parameters of surface hydrology, as it happens with the reduced scale models of applied hydraulics, since they are powerful tools to explain phenomena and at the same time transfer information between hydrological systems hydraulically Similar. For which the problem hydrological system must be located in the group that corresponds in the dimensionless morphometric regional classification, verify the conditions of hydraulic similarity according to the established permissible ranges and then explain the hydrodynamics of the basin. If similar in the group, the dimensionless parameters become fundamental instruments for transferring hydrological information between all hydraulically similar basins. The dimensionless morphometric regionalization can also be used to install pluviometric and / or hydrometric stations in a single basin of each similar strategically selected group, with substantial savings in the economy, especially in developing countries.
