Future-oriented Cooperative Relationship between Daegu and Nagoya
through
Water Business

Abstract: In view of the experience of Japan and the Republic of Korea (hereinafter referred to as ROK) in urban modernization, it would be more fruitful if these two countries shared their experiences and collaborated in not only the exchange of technology, but also in the management of urban systems, because they have learnt much from overcoming the processes of environmental pollution and disasters. The author believes that it would be desirable for Japan and ROK to develop a competitive relationship similar to that seen between Ms. Nao Kodaira and Ms. Lee Sang Hwa in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games. Daegu and Nagoya would then be able to proactively pursue various possibilities from the experiences of both sides. Stepwise and gradual development of cooperative relations is desirable for both Japan and ROK. With this in mind, the author proposes that Daegu and Nagoya have exchanging opportunities periodically to discuss and take necessary measures of mutual interest.
