Abstract: Brazilian semi-arid region has high rates of solar irradiance which can be used for generating electricity and produce renewable energy through the technology of photovoltaic panels. One of the remain problems is the high cost of system. In this context, this paper has the objective of analyzing the financial and system efficiency in the city of Juazeiro do Norte-CE. Through a qualitative study and a bibliography research, a comparison with an equivalent city energetic system was pursued, resulting in savings of 52.56% in energy cost vanishing accordingly with the geographical location of the solar cells installation. Also, the payback period can reach an average of 11 years and 10 months, significantly smaller. Concluding that the use of solar energy in the region is financially and ecologically viable.
