A Brave New World: The Environmental and Economic Impact of Autonomous Cars

Abstract: In Japan and in states such as Nevada and California, autonomous cars* have obtained permission to operate on the roads. While the technology is being perfected anticipating that “driverless” vehicles will be sold by 2020, there are concerns about the economic dislocations these vehicles will cause.
