Abstract: Lake Amatitlán in Guatemala is part of the group of water bodies that are in an accelerated process of contamination and artificial eutrophication. This amount of contaminants causes the presence of heavy metals, these release soluble salts in the water, are toxic and accumulate by the organisms that absorb them, which in turn are a source of contamination of the food chains when ingested by some of them. its links. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the ability of oxygen nanobubble technology to reduce heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, copper, cyanide, zinc and total chromium. The research was experimental in nature, it consisted of taking a sample of 33 m³ of water from Lake Amatitlán. Oxygen nanobubble was applied for eight days, operating for two hours and 45 minutes per day, making a total of 19 hours, three samples were obtained, the first was the control sample. The results obtained were favorable since a reduction of 91.07% of cadmium, 50% of lead, 93.75% copper, 90.47 cyanide, 56.25% zinc and 66.66% of total chromium was obtained. The final results were compared with quality standards of oligotrophic algos from Peru.
