Aesop Myths — African Folk Tales: Intercultural Approach and Vocabulary Learning With Augmented Reality

Abstract: Apart from being a code of communication, language is an expression of culture. The folk tales and didactic myths today belong to the field of children’s Literature. From time to time there has been extensive research on the potential use of such texts in language education. As far as the second/foreign language acquisition is concerned, it is important to look for teaching methods, material and strategies that will activate the interest of students and will lead to a positive attitude towards L2. Additionally technology can create multimodal learning environment and modernize language teaching. The purpose of this presentation is to record ways to achieve intercultural approach and vocabulary acquisition through the Aesop myths and African Folk Tales enriched by Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality, which offers the connection between the conventional material (book) and the digital world, creating a motivating environment of differentiated learning and students taught in Greek immigrant communities in the Africa.
