Abstract: The study concerns a comparison between different modern data collection techniques used in travel surveys for transportation modelling. State-of-the-art technology integrated in mobile phones, but also their widespread and diversity is a major advantage for their use in transportation surveys. Also, the vehicles also possess now telematic control units, GPS and GSM antennas and can transmit those information in the context of a travel survey. The not so new anymore concept of blockchain can bring the security element in this equation. The use of combined data from GPS and accelerometer may be relevant mainly due to the fact that accelerometers do not depend on the signal from satellites, and therefore can provide more stable data records.
