Abstract: We have been participating in the “Ekošola” (Ecoschool) programme for five years. The goal and purpose of this participation is to encourage the children and raise their awareness about the importance of protecting the nature and the environment and learning about the two in general. Since we are a suburban school surrounded by nature, we have the option of carrying out numerous activities and collaborating with local societies, predominantly with “Ajda” (“Buckwheat”) society, so promoting ecological awareness is not a problem. “Ajda” society is helping us with promoting the so-called Steiner’s biological-dynamics method or biodynamics for short and with getting acquainted with the Maria Thun sowing calendar. The sowing calendar makes working in the garden easier by drawing our attention to favourable days for specific garden chores. With the aid of these tools we spread a positive relationship with nature and inspire the children to think outside the box. We find it important to emphasize sustainability in childhood years by promoting natural science disciplines that affect a person’s basic consciousness and the way in which one treats one's living environment. It is of utmost importance to know that children need to be made aware of crucial values that will help us preserve nature for the future generations of children to enjoy. It is with this goal in mind that we organized a field day at school and in its surroundings where we introduced the children to biodynamics in theory and practice.
