Abstract: The present bibliographical review was conducted so that effects of racism on adolescent immigrants’-refugees’ mental health would be addressed. The theoretical framework was based on the Intercultural model of immigrant-refugee children developmental model, the Bronfenbrenner ecological model and the theory of mental durability. The relationship between discriminations and psychopathology is a multi-factor phenomenon. Ethnic identity and cultural stress play an essential role on the appearance of mental illness. Psychological discomfort, stress, depression and suicidal tendencies are some of the effects of racism reported on adolescent immigrants’-refugees’ mental health. Stigmatizing of the mental health problems is a strong inhibitory factor which prevents immigrants from addressing to mental health services or responding to intervention programs. Thus, the balancing role of education to promoting immigrants’-refugees’ social health is brought into light.
