Opportunities and Challenges

Abstract: The aim of the article is to examine why there are still limited possibilities for developing capacities for creative economy in most Brazilian educational institutions. The central argument indicates that the limited possibilities for developing capacities for creative economy in most Brazilian educational institutions are related to the insufficient stimulation of interdisciplinarity and transversality of the acquired knowledge by students, the low promotion of the development of artistic and critical aptitudes and the reduced investment in innovation, which would allow the application of unprecedented processes and management systems to benefit not only companies but society in general. In order to promote education for creative economy in Brazil, it is essential to incorporate contents linked to creative competencies into current educational programs, encourage the interaction between technical schools and social initiatives and increase incubators and research centers in creative economy.
Key words: education, creative economy, Brazil, economic crisis, political crisis
