Abstract: 6.5% of hospitalizations are the result of errors in the drugs prescription. The errors are observed in undergraduate, graduate and consultant doctors. It is considered that undergraduate education is part of the problem, because the rational principles of prescription (clinical pharmacology) are taught, but not its application in diseases or specific problems (pharmacotherapy). In the present study, we integrate the teaching of pharmacology applied to specific problems, in a course of the 6th semester of the medical career. We start with a list of drugs that concentrates the most common errors of physicians of years 1 and 2 according to educational programs in England. Our program consisted in the description of the drug by teams of 2 students, based on a clinical case and a 9-point method that includes a patient-centered approach. The appreciation of the students regarding the method is encouraging, although not without controversy.
Key words: patient-centered education, patient-centered pharmacotherapy, patient-centered pharmacology,
