Abstract: This research study looked at the implications of using a mobile app for improving adolescents’ confidence in eating fruits and vegetables and meeting the daily requirements of physical activity. The study also looked to measure the support of family and friends in meeting these healthy behaviors. The study found that by using motivation in the form of an app, students increased their confidence in meeting nutritional and physical activity requirements at significantly higher rate than by using traditional teaching methods without technology intervention. The study also found that family and friend support was increased as well, by the connecting of an interactive app. As schools continue to invest in supporting technology for students it is vital that we continue to make the connection between using these latest mobile technologies and how they can contribute to a healthier lifestyle in and out of school.
